This week we were asked to host an important business masterclass by the All Ireland Business Foundation titled ‘Winning the Game of Business.’
The central topic was climbing on the journey of continuous improvement in daily business or sporting life. Joining the session were three noted and multi award-winning and multi All Ireland winning sports stars, Brendan Maher, Anna Geary and Liam Sheedy.
All have given their all to succeeding on the playing pitch and have a constant craving for the cycle of success at the heart of their own makeup and philosophy.
The guest of honour was RTÉ’s former Chief News Correspondent, Charlie Bird. Charlie has spent all his professional life reporting on domestic and international issues, from seeking peace on the island of Ireland to many global issues and conflicts.
Charlie was later to take up a job as RTÉ’s Washington Correspondent. Very sadly, Charlie has been recently diagnosed with Motor Neurones Disease and is now battling to raise funds for two great charities, the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association and Pieta.
In an utterly selfless way. Charlie is planning to climb Croagh Patrick in early April, and is encouraging others to climb their own mountain in a symbol of courage and determination in overcoming the many battles people face coping with mental and physical issues on a daily basis.
As a former colleague in RTÉ, we are humbled to have been asked by Charlie to volunteer direction, support and communications assistance around this great undertaking. Please support the campaign at www.climbwithcharlie.ie
